Apocalypse
You wake up to an alarm you forgot to turn off.
It’s Saturday. No class. No noise. No people.
Weird.
Are you just having a bad morning… or has the world moved on without you?
This is an interactive narrative game demo.
Not every apocalypse starts with a bang. Some begin with brushing your teeth.

Your description is so good, that's right, the most chaos begins when there is a calmness before. The uneasy vibe as the gamer knowing that there is an apocalypse ongoing yet forced to put the player through the mundane routine is definitely a strange feeling that works
I'd be interested in seeing an expansion of this game where the player character is completely and comically oblivious to the apocalypse during the whole game! The subtle hints dropped in the introduction are really great and it makes me wonder how an entire game styled like that could be like.
The game is simple in its presentation but you managed to pull off an eerie vibe through the use of dark colors and subtle hints that something is wrong like how the water does not seem to be working. I actually think that your lack of imagery works better in your favor as you cannot see what is going on, so it forces you to imagine what this threat is.
There's definitely a concept here, and I like how the ordinary takes over for a majority of the play experience. It seems you want to keep the character of the apocalypse a mystery, but I do want maybe a little more detail on what kind of "end of the world" is being experienced (like, a zombie/biological one? or alien invasion? or something more fantastical/supernatural?).
I think resting on the idea of "no class. no noise. no people" should take priority before we really kick into the chaos and screaming of this scenario, since that initial part is the most ominous/eerie part of the whole experience.
I love apocalypse style games and even right now watching The Last of Us, or even playing the game, affects the choices I made. I tried being more careful because you don’t know what’s out there or what type of apocalypse we’re in. Is it like World War Z, Walking Dead, 28 Days Later? You might think that all apocalypses are the same but they aren’t.
glad to have a good ending for my run. The story is very attractive and what I advice is to have more graphic design to help with the immersive plot!
Maybe there is a bug while I'm clicking the option "check Ticktok", it didn't have any response. Overall all, I get the good ending and bad ending and I'm guessing this game have multiple endings.
What exactly could the cause of this apocalypse be? Although the game is entirely text based, the cliff hanger at the end makes you curious what will happen next! My first thought as to what was causing the apocalypse was the monsters from bird box haha.
I felt making a zombie apocalypse game being mundane was a really good choice that could potentially be disrupted from the chaos of zombies. It reminded me of the Beach game I played in class where you made decisions on what to do and see which affected your ending. This game definitely is like a choose your own adventure.
I haven’t played too many zombie apocalypse games but going off the TellTale Walking Dead games, I notice that a lot of them like to use the “this choice will have consequences” or “____ will remember that.” This also feels like the beginning of a choose your own adventure game.
For being a short demo, you really get the sense that something is wrong, but you don't ever get the chance to find out what. I like the fact that it isn't announced, and that you have to find out that something is wrong instead.
The mundane-ness of it all is so interesting. It doesn't build up as much anxiety as I expected it to except the very end but I think it works well here. The idea that anything could happen at a moments notice without you realizing... :0
The thought that apocalypses begin not with a bang, but with a hundred subtle signs, is really interesting. The lack of images and information works well in that context, but it would also be interesting to try and embed little signs and hints within audio and images.
This demo succeeds in making me want to play more. Narratively, I love your choice to add everyday small decisions, it adds to the realism of the game and doesn't fall into the cliche of screaming and running right away
it was hard to follow along the story a bit. It felt like I was missing pieces of the story a bit. I think the use of sound and background images would help improve upon the feeling of unease and suspense! Otherwise I like the mysterious storyline
Agree! So far it has good building blocks in place to be atmospheric so I’m curious what else can be added to paint a fuller picture, even having something creeping in the background that gets progressively darker would be an interesting touch
I like the concept of this game, and I think it plays well. I think one thing you could maybe add is some images reflecting where you are in the house. This could add to the creepy/uneasy vibes that are created by this game.
I like the concept of a silent apocalypse that begins after you brush your teeth. The story has a lot of potential and I enjoyed the personality of the main character showing through the dialogue.
This game demo has a lot of potential. A lot of different text branches and you definitely have a sense of freedom while still being led down a directed path. I personally enjoyed the moments my decisions mattered towards whether the game continued or not
